Lancaster hitters homer 7 times in win
5/8 Cup of Coffee: It was a good night for the Sox affiliates as they swept all four games played. Pawtucket defeated Durham 3-2. David Pauley started and went 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 BB.He had 5 Ks. Chris Smith threw 2 perfect frames recording 2 Ks. Bryan Corey pitched a clean 9th fanning 2 of the 3 batters he faced. Jeff Bailey went 2 for 5 with a run scored. Sean Casey on his rehab assignment went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Dusty Brown went 2 for 4 with a RBI.
Portland got by New Hampshire 5-1. Kris Johnson (3-1) threw 5 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits and 3 BB. He had 4 Ks. Miquel Asencio went 1.2 frames and allowed a run on 3 BB. He had 2 Ks. Mike James threw 1.1 scoreless, hitless innings. He gave up a BB while fanning 2. Jose Vaquedano pitched a 1-2-3 9th. Bubba Bell continues to fight his way back from an early season slump going 2 for 4 with a run scored. He is now hitting .250. Iggy Suarez went 2 for 4 and scored twice. Josh Papelbon threw a scoreless 1.2 frames allowing 1 hit. Blake Maxwell went 2 innings and gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He had 2 Ks. Jason Place went 2 for 5 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Josh Reddick went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. Reid Engel went 2 for 4 with 2 homers and 4 RBI. Daniel Nava went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, 4 runs scored and 4 RBI.
Despite being outhit 11-5, Greenville defeated Rome 5-3. Terumasa Matsuo went 4 innings and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits and a BB. He had 6 Ks. Chad Povich (4-0) threw 4 innings and did not allow a run.
