Mike Burns goes 7 strong innings in PawSox win
8/16 Cup of Coffee: Last night, Pawtucket defeated Ottawa 3-1 in 11 innings. Mike Burns went 7 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits and a BB. He had 6 Ks. Abe Alvarez threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits and a BB. He had 1 K. Lincoln Holdzkom went 2/3 of an inning. He did not allow a run on 2 hits and a BB. Javier Lopez (2-1) picked up the win throwing 1 scoreless inning. He allowed 1 hit and 1 BB. Travis Hughes pitched a clean 11th inning. Bobby Scales went 2 for 4 and scored a run.
Portland defeated Trenton 5-2. Tommy Hottovy (3-8) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 BB. He had 1 K. Barry Hertzler pitched 2 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit. Mike James threw a scoreless 9th allowing 1 hit and 1 BB. He had 1 K. Bryan Pritz went 2 for 5 and scored 2 runs. Iggy Suarez went 2 for 4. Dusty Brown went 1 for 4 with a home run and 4 RBI.

Lakewood defeated Greenville 7-5. Jimmy James (2-3) went 4 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 3 BB. Brantley New went 2 2/3 frames giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 BB. He had 2 strikeouts. Richie Lentz went 2 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit while fanning 1. Jason Place went 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 runs scored. Jon Egan went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI.
In the Gulf Coast League, the Red Sox edged the Pirates 2-1. Hunter Strickland went 3 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits and a BB. He had 1 K. Carlos Almanzar threw a scoreless inning allowing 1 hit. He had 2 Ks. Pedro Perez (4-4) threw 4 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit and 2 BB. Ryne Miller threw a perfect frame with 1 K. Oscar Tejeda went 3 for 4 with a run scored. Emmanuel Solano went 2 for 3.
