Corsaletti's 5 RBI night leads Sea Dogs to victory


8/4 Cup of Coffeee: On Friday, Pawtucket split a double header with Rochester. In game 1 the Pawsox lost 7-4. Devern Hansack pitched 5 innings, giving up a run on 4 hits while striking out 4 and walking 4. Lincoln Holdzkom went the final 1 1/3 innings, giving up no runs on a hit while striking out 1 and walking 1. Jed Lowrie led the offense going 2 for 4 with a double. Jeff Bailey and Eddie Rogers each went 1 for 3 with a home run. In game 2 the Pawsox won 7-2. John Barnes pitched a 7 inning complete game, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 4 and issuing 5 walks. Matt Sheely went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's while Jed Lowrie went 2 for 4 with a double, home run and 2 RBI's.


Portland shutout Harrisburg 13-0. Chris Smith pitched 5 innings, giving up no runs on 5 hits while striking out 7 and walking 4. Hunter Jones and Barry Hertzler combined to pitch 4 scoreless innings to preserve the shutout. Jeff Corsaletti led the Sea Dogs offense as he went 3 for 4 with a double, home run, 3 walks, 5 RBI's, and a stolen base. Iggy Suarez went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 walks, and 2 RBI's while Cory Keylor went 3 for 6 with a double, home run, and a RBI in the win.

Lancaster fell to Lake Elsinore 4-3. Newcomer Adam Cox pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up no runs on 5 hits while striking out 3 and walking 1. TJ Large took the loss as he gave up a home run to the first hitter he pitched to in the 9th. Brad Correll led the Jethawk offense going 3 for 4 with a double and a stolen base and RBI. Aaron Bates went 1 for 3 with a double, a walk, and a RBI while Mickey Hall went 1 for 3 with a triple.

Greenville beat Hagerstown 3-1. Ryan Phillips pitched 7 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits while striking out 8 and walking 1. Bryce Cox pitched a scoreless 8th inning with 2 strikeouts. Paul Smyth went 2 for 4 and Argenis Diaz went 2 for 5. Lars Anderson, Jon Still, and Kris Negron each had an RBI in the Drive's win.

Lowell beat Staten Island 7-2. Nick Hagadone pitched 2 innings giving up no runs on 2 hits while striking out 3. Willy Mota pitched 2 innings giving up no runs on 1 hit while striking out 2 and walking 1. Felix Ventura pitched a scoreless 9th giving up 1 hit. Jorge Jimenez went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's and a stolen base while Carlos Fernandez went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's.

In the Gulf Coast League, the Red Sox beat the Reds 7-5. Jose Alvarez pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 6 and walking 1. Armando Zerpa threw 3 perfect innings out of the bullpen striking out 2. Oscar Tejeda went 4 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI's while Luis Sumoza went 1 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI's. Ricardo Burgos went 1 for 5 with his 7th home run and also drove in 2 RBI's.

And in the Dominican Summer League, the Red Sox lost to the Devil Rays 4-1. Charlie Rosario pitched the first 4 innings, giving up 4 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits while walking 1. Victor de la Cruz pitched 2 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits and striking out 2. Wilfi Santana went 1 for 3 with a walk and a RBI while Ronald Bermudez went 1 for 3 with a walk.

Player of the Night: Jeff Corsaletti who went 3 for 4 with a double, home run, stolen base, and 5 RBI's in the Sea Dogs 13-0 win over Harrisburg.
