Lester's start cut short
Jon Lester was scheduled to throw 90-100 pitches in his final Pawtucket rehab assignment tonight, but he was forced to leave the game after only 3 innings and 63 pitches, allowing 2 runs. According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the cause for the early exit was "minor cramping in his left forearm", an injury that does not appear to be serious. Lester's 30-day rehab assignment ends on Friday, when he will likely be optioned to Pawtucket. Lester hopes to make his next scheduled start on normal rest.
