7/16 Cup of Coffee


On Saturday the Pawtucket Red Sox beat the Charlotte nights at McCoy 7-4. David Pauley got the start for the Pawsox and went 6 innings giving up 4 runs, 3 of which were earned on 9 hits while striking out 1 and walking 2. Phil Seibel who just came off the DL and was promoted to Pawtucket pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief while striking out 4 to pick up the win. Jermaine Van Buren closed it out for his 11th save. Dustin Pedroia continues to be on fire went 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Adam Stern also went 2-5 with a triple and 2 runs scored in the win. In Portland the Connecticut Defenders beat the Seadogs 9-7 in 11 innings. Devern Hansack got the start for the Seadogs and pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up 6 runs, 3 of which were earned on 7 hits while striking out 4 and walking 2. Jacoby Ellsbury went 4-5 with a double, a walk and 3 RBI along with a stolen base. Brandon Moss went 2-6 with a double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. In Wilmington the Blue Rocks fell to Frederick 7-4. Kevin Guyette got the start and went 5 2/3 innings giving up 4 runs, 3 of which were earned on 3 hits while striking out 3 and walking 3. Bryan Printz went 2-4 with a run scored and Jed Lowrie with 1-5 with 2 RBI. Andrew Pinckney also went 2-4 in the loss. Greenville defeated Rome on Saturday 3-1. Michael Bowden got the start for the Drive and went 5 innings giving up no runs on 3 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1 while picking up his 7th win of the season. Luis Soto, Mark Wagner, and Tony Granadillo each had 2 hits apiece and 1 RBI in the Drive's win. Lowell on Saturday defeated Williamsport 3-1. Jeff Farrell got the start for the Spinners and went 5 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 2 and walking 2 . Justin Masterson and Josh Papelbon eached pitched 2 scoreless innings in the win. Aaron Bates went 2-4 with a double and a run scored and Zach Daeges went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI. And finally the GCL Red Sox beat the GCL Twins 4-3. Felix Doubront continues to impress as he went 6 shutout innings giving up only 1 hit while striking out 5. Argenis Diaz went 3-4 with 2 runs scored and Chih-Hsien Chiang went 2-4 in the win.

Player of the Night: Dustin Pedroia who went 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI in the Pawsox win. Pedroia has raised his season average to .306.
