4/8 Cup of Coffee


Last night was not a great one for Sox farm teams as 3 of the 4 teams in action suffered losses. Pawtucket was hammered 9-1 by Indianapolis. Willie Harris was 1 for 3 and scored the PawSox lone run. David Wells started and went 5 innings giving up 7 runs on 6 hits two of which were homers. He also allowed 3 walks. Connecticut got by Portland 4-2. Brandon Moss and Matt Van Der Bosch were both 2 for 3. Chris Smith started the game and threw 5 scoreless, hitless innings for the Sea Dogs. Kevin Frederick lost the game in relief, giving up 2 runs in 1 inning of work. Myrtle Beach edged Wilmington 5-4. Jeff Corsaletti went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI. Tommy Hottovy started and went 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits with 4 K's. Mike James took the loss giving up the winning run in 2/3 of an inning. Greenville avoided being swept by hammering Columbus 16-3. Luis Soto went 3 for 6 with a home run, 3 runs scored and 2 RBI. Jeff Natale went 3 for 4 with 2 homers, 3 runs scored and 4 RBI. Clay Buchholz started and got the victory pitching 5 innings and allowed just one run on 4 hits. He had 6 K's.
