Greenville pitched a shutout against Hickory behind a four-inning relief appearance by Casey Cobb. As for Salem, the Red Sox were leading headed into the eighth but gave up a tally to send the game to extra innings, where their pitching staff struggled.

Player of the Day: Four hits is a pretty good day. Cameron Cannon was 4 for 5 for Portland in its dominating win on Saturday, shining as part of a 20-hit performance in which seven of his teammates also had a multi-hit outing. Two of Cannon's hits were for extra bases, two of nine such knocks for Sea Dogs hitters. The 23-year-old is nearing a .300 average on the season, hitting .294/.343/.464 on the season, though he is still getting his feet under him in Portland, as his average less less than .250 across his first 49 at-bats up in Maine.
